Here at DF Legal we are proud when our staff show resource and are proactive when they see a problem. That is just what Catherine Booton, a Solicitor at our Ledbury Branch has done. She recently started up the ‘Helping Handbags’ initiative.
Catherine sat down with Grant Adlard, our Marketing Coordinator, to explain more:-
“Hi Catherine!… So what is Helping Handbags?”
“Helping Handbags is a new initiative set up to provide support for homeless women or for women fleeing domestic violence. Often, women escaping dangerous situations leave with nothing except the clothes they are wearing. The initiative has been set up to help women in distress who leave their homes with nothing.”
“How does this all work in practice?”
“I am asking people to donate their old/unused handbags filled with unused sanitary products for women. These will then be donated to West Mercia Women’s Aid where they will be distributed amongst women in the refuge. There are drop off points both in Ledbury and Hereford.
“How can people get involved then?”
“This is the easy part! We just need you to bring your unwanted handbags and sanitary products to one of our drop off points! Donations will be accepted throughout the month of February. What we specifically need is:-
- Old/unused handbags in good condition
- Bath soaps and shower gels
- Shampoos & Conditioners
- Face Wipes and tissues
- Old Scarves/gloves in good condition
- General female sanitary products
Please call into the Ledbury Branch to drop it off personally or contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org to find alternative collection points.”
